I Want You To Be Widowed - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
If I have committed a crime, the law will punish me, not make the male lead watch me crawl.
“What are you trying to do?” he asked in a hoarse voice.
The man began to laugh.
Despite feeling as if he could breathe out the flames of hell itself, Yi Zhen still felt a shiver down his spine and goosebumps all over his skin upon seeing his smile.
“Just like before, sister-in-law,” the man said with a smile. “I’ll unlock your chains, and you crawl over to me. I’ll give you some water and a reward.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the small gold chain around Yi Zhen’s ankle clicked open. The frosted carved glass doors of the bedroom silently became more transparent and smoothly slid open to each side—an unsettling yet sci-fi-esque scene.
The man’s smile was so warm and his tone so serious, it would have seemed mundane, like a tutor asking a student to bring their workbook to his office, if one ignored the content of his words.
Yi Zhen’s face turned dark: “I’ll...”
He couldn’t finish his sentence before the screen shut off, leaving him alone in the empty bedroom with an extremely unpleasant expression.
“Tai’a,” Yi Zhen sighed out a hot breath, his overly high body temperature causing his limbs to start giving out on him. “Can he hear me...?”
[Communication between the system and the player cannot be intercepted by any third parties.] Tai'a finally spoke, its reply coming belatedly.
“How do you plan to help me?” Yi Zhen gritted his teeth. “What else has he done to me? This guy is the so-called main character, right? Then, does that make my identity... And this scoundrel even calls me sister-in-law!”
Tai’a said, [I believe this situation is impossible, but the current scenario has gone beyond my computational logic.]
It paused, then stated solemnly, [The world would not choose a transmigrator as its main character; there’s never been such a precedent. Moreover, my detection system has not recognized your identity. I wasn’t present earlier because I was conducting an emergency self-check and temporarily inputting your information...]
“Aren’t you supposed to be able to cheat?” Yi Zhen tried to calm himself and think through the situation. “Forget about identities... turn me into Superman, or even Ultraman. If nothing else works... there’s this guy called Hannibal. Turn me into him, and I swear, the next time I crawl over there, it’ll be that bastard’s doomsday!”
Tai’a responded with a hint of helplessness, [I believe this is a permission currently locked to me. My role is to guide, not to lead players... to cheat.]
“Great,” Yi Zhen gasped with no expression. “If you asked me whether sticking my hand in a blender was a better option, I’d hesitate.”
[However,] Tai’a added, [a temporary cognition-enhancement buff, a newcomer protection benefit, can now be provided to the player. It lasts for 90 seconds. Would you like to exchange for it?]
“Exchange!” Yi Zhen leaped from the bed and bounced off, “Maybe I’ll also need to apply for a quantum speed-reading function, I need to understand what exactly is going on.”
Tai’a calmly stated, [Quantum speed-reading is unnecessary. To assist all players in quickly familiarizing themselves with their world, the original work comes with a five-hundred-fold speed input setting.]
A chilling sensation swept through Yi Zhen, cooling him down as effectively as pouring menthol on his scalp. Just moments ago, he was burning up internally, and now, he nearly shivered, truly experiencing a drastic shift from fire to ice.
But Yi Zhen had no time for complaints. He grabbed the novel and, after confirming that the surveillance could be fooled by Tai’a, he hurriedly flipped through it.
Yi Zhen stared at the glowing words on the book, his face extremely ugly.
Flicking through the pages fast as waves, he finished the whole story, summarizing it with only three words: no real plot.
One of the male leads, Yi Zhen, and another, Rong Hongxue, both talents of their generation, met—unfortunately, instead of striking healthy sparks, one just lost his husband, and the other thought of nothing but how to fry the former’s skin with a rash.
Main plot? There isn't any.
Character growth? What's that?
A deeply touching love story? While there is a romance in this story, Yi Zhen could only see folly in it. Who could possibly fall in love with someone like that and go hand in hand with them to welcome a brighter future?
Rong Hongxue snuck into Yi Zhen’s room in the middle of the night, successfully frying him a rash. Yi Zhen resisted, fried; Rong Hongxue got angry, fried; Yi Zhen escaped on an interstellar ship, putting the book’s inexplicable interstellar background aside for a moment to focus on frying a rash; Rong Hongxue mingled with other men and women, ignoring for the moment who these newly introduced characters were, to fry another rash—all in all, flipping through hundreds of pages, Yi Zhen could no longer recognize those verbs, nouns, adjectives. His vision was filled with a swathe of whiteness, wanting to cry but failing to shed a tear, wanting to end it all but not having the will to proceed.
Others experience 365 sunrises a year, but this cursed book features a sunrise every single day of the year. If Yi Zhen could choose again, he’d use 300 days to repeatedly assassinate Rong Hongxue, 60 days to heal his own behind to prevent death by prolapse, and spend the remaining four days fleeing this cursed place by buying a train ticket overnight. If none of these plans worked, he’d reserve the last day to embrace a nuclear bomb, blowing up this damnable world.
[...in conclusion, the world the player is in has a very simple storyline. After the male protagonist's older brother died, he forcibly took his brother's spouse as his own, and slowly, they start developing feelings for one another. The logic is very rough, as all of the twists in the story exist only for the sake of the interaction between the two main characters. There is also a severe lack of main characters; there are only two. As a result of this world completely matching our criteria for quality, it has attracted a great many other transmigrators. But worry not, in the battles that occur to establish ownership over these worlds, I will support you with all my strength...Player, why aren't you responding?]
Yi Zhen took a deep breath: “I want to leave this place.” Tai'a paused, seemingly puzzled.
[I believe that’s impossible...]
Even in the state of being cooled by so-called menthol, Yi Zhen’s forehead heated up in anger: “It’s me, it’s me!”
Yi Zhen threw the book onto the ground: “Look at this name, one of the male leads is me! Yi Zhen, I am Yi Zhen! Didn’t this damned book check before dragging people in, how did I become a main character?”
Ever since that man—Rong Hongxue, with his calm yet subtly perverted smile, called him sister-in-law, he had sensed what vile situation was unfolding, but seeing it with his own eyes was a different matter entirely. Watching the “Yi Zhen” in the book being tossed and fried over and over again felt utterly different.
Yi Zhen felt that his current composure was due to his extraordinarily resilient mind, far beyond ordinary.
“I want to leave this place.”
[I believe that’s impossible, player,] Tai’a’s tone remained calm, [However—] It changed its tune: [The 90-second time limit has expired. It's time for you to crawl, player.]
【Main Quest: Initiation Triggered
Quest Content: I crawl, I’m the best at crawling
I am now one of the protagonists of “Desire’s Threshold: Spare Me, Uncle,” although Tai’a says there’s never been a precedent for a transmigrator becoming the main character, I don’t understand what’s going on. But for now, I must crawl to where Rong Hongxue is to plan my next move.
In life, who doesn’t crawl? Crawl!
Quest Reward:
Initial choice of three major attributes, 10-second invincibility buff】
Seeing the quest details, Yi Zhen wanted to cry but couldn't; in fact, he couldn't even stand up... he could only crawl.
A wave of heat rolled over him, seemingly even more intense than before. Yi Zhen couldn’t walk, he could only suffer in silence, slowly wriggling on the cold floor.
“Tai’a,” Yi Zhen asked weakly, “What exactly have I been poisoned with?”
[In fact, it is a refined biological toxin that can lead to hormonal secretion disorder, temporarily increasing your sex hormones to levels beyond normal. Due to its potent toxicity, it is difficult to cleanse in one attempt.]
“...An aphrodisiac, right? Just say it,” Yi Zhen said expressionlessly, though, in his heart, he had already killed that little beast called Rong Hongxue thousands of times. “But if it’s this drug, shouldn’t I lose my mind, burning with desire, clinging to his thighs and begging for a quick end? Why am I just feeling hot... and no other symptoms?”
[Perhaps it’s because this body has had multiple exposures and has developed a resistance. Or it could be due to your identity.] Tai’a replied, [You are a unique existence, being a transmigrator equipped with a guidance system and also a protagonist of this book.]
Yi Zhen snorted: “Lucky me.”
Under surveillance, his current struggle was likely being enjoyed by Rong Hongxue; “Just like before,” indicating this wasn’t their first time; and the hard-to-clear, potent poison that could only be temporarily subdued by drugs... too skilled, brother, the BDSM section on Pornhub has nothing on you.
According to the original story, Yi Zhen was now the widower of Rong Hongxue’s brother, his former brother-in-law. Aside from the extensive physical entanglements, there were indeed other noteworthy points in the book.
Rong Hongxue, such a delicate name, as if he were a little girl. Yet, the more delicate the name, the more twisted the personality, Yi Zhen realized from their first encounter that this was someone hard to deal with.
Like a wolf, Yi Zhen thought, and one that couldn’t be tamed.
Rong Hongxue’s background, briefly summed in the book, wasn’t lengthy.
A bastard, a product of an affair, a life not meant for great expectations.
His mother was a consort of space pirates, who fell in love at first sight with Rong Hongxue’s father—a man already married and father to a son. She silently made the pirate consort a cuckold, and was favored by Rong’s father’s one-shot passion. After getting pregnant with Rong Hongxue, the consort refused to abort the child, seeing it as a chance to escape her fugitive life. So, she approached Rong’s father, asking him to take her away.
But Rong’s father had no intention of offending a space pirate group for a woman and her so-called unimportant child. Nor did he wish to leave behind problems waiting to be exposed. Thus, with sweet nothings, he persuaded Rong Hongxue’s mother to trust him, then sent her on a one-way ticket to a desolate frontier planet for convicts, with no returns.
For years, Rong Hongxue struggled and suffered, while the root of his misery enjoyed a life of luxury in the central star regions, wielding the family’s wealth.
Fortunately, his eldest son was a sickly weakling.
And thankfully, he had no other sons.
Following his mother’s death, Rong Hongxue lost the last strand of warmth in his heart. He used every means to escape the barren planet and set off on a path of vengeance.
The first on his list were the lives of the Rong family father and son, followed by the family’s industries, and then his shy, tender sister-in-law, his half-brother’s male spouse.
Rong’s father was killed, his brother followed soon after, leaving this vulnerable beauty, like an unsupported clematis, now dependent on him.
—He was the last link in Rong Hongxue’s chain of revenge.
Yi Zhen crawled, his mouth dry and without the mood to appreciate his surroundings, simply moving forward through the corridor. Thankfully, there was no one else around, and the floor was smooth and clean enough not to make the journey too difficult.
His spine, thighs, and arms—all felt boiling with fever as he gasped for air. Ahead, a closed, semi-translucent door blocked his path.
Perhaps it couldn’t be called a door, just a door-shaped wall. Yi Zhen attempted to find a seam, touching it as though it was a mirror embedded in silvery metal.
Damn it…
“Xiao Zhen.” Rong Hongxue’s image appeared on the door again, still smiling, his expression barely changed, “Or do you prefer I call you sister-in-law?”
Yi Zhen squinted at him, thinking, just wait until I get to you, I’ll dedicate the limited time I have to unleashing an endless barrage on you.
“You seem particularly quiet today, no crying, no fussing,” Rong Hongxue’s tone had a faint sigh, “And also, it seems you’ve forgotten something.”
“…What thing?” Yi Zhen asked.
From a corner of the silvery wall, a basin of water smoothly slid out.
“Thirsty? This is for you,” Rong Hongxue said with a refined smile, “No need to hold it, just lick it clean, and the door will open.”
